What is Mounjaro®?

Mounjaro® (tirzepatide) is a once-weekly injectable medication designed to support healthy, sustainable weight loss. It mimics two natural gut hormones—GLP-1 and GIP—which help regulate appetite and fullness. ✅ Who Can Use Mounjaro®?

Mounjaro® may be prescribed if:

You have a BMI of 30 or higher, or
You have a BMI of 27+ with a weight-related condition such as:
- Type 2 diabetes
- High blood pressure
- Raised cholesterol
- Heart disease

⚠️ If you have type 2 diabetes and a BMI under 27, Mounjaro® is not licensed for weight loss use.

📆 Dosage Schedule

1–4	2.5 mg weekly
5–8	5 mg weekly
9–12	7.5 mg weekly
13–16	10 mg weekly
17–20	12.5 mg weekly
21+	15 mg weekly

Your dose is increased every 4 weeks, depending on your response and tolerance.

📍 How to Use Mounjaro®

Once per week, same day each week
Inject into: thigh, abdomen, or upper arm
Can be used with or without food, at any time of day
Very small needle, easy and relatively pain-free
Rotate injection sites weekly to avoid irritation

❄️ Storage Guidelines

Store in fridge: 2–8°C
Can be kept at room temperature (max 30°C) for up to 30 days
Always replace in the fridge after use, if possible
Never freeze or expose to direct heat

Gallbladder disease	Sharp upper-right stomach pain, worsens with breathing. → Call 999 / go to A&E
Anaphylaxis (rare)	Swelling, difficulty breathing, rapid heartbeat. → Call 999 immediately

🗑️ Safe Disposal of Used Pens & Needles

Dispose of used needles in the sharps bin
Used pens (after removing the needle) can be:
- Thrown in household waste, or
- Placed in the sharps bin
When full, contact your local council for collection
New bins can be added to future orders
